HERE’S WHY JOEY AND PHOEBE NEVER DATED ON ‘FRIENDS’

With fans patiently waiting for the cast of Friends to reunite next month, former stars Lisa “Phoebe Buffay” Kudrow and Matt “Joey Tribbiani” LeBlanc are opening up about why their beloved characters never “hooked up” on the long-running sitcom.

Sure we’ll always have the iconic pairings of Ross and Rachel, Chandler and Monica, and Gunther and coffee, but why didn’t Joey and Phoebe ever get that elusive “He’s Her Lobster” moment? During a recent interview with People, LeBlanc revealed that he and Kudrow actually pitched the producers an idea for a Joey/Phoebe hook up.

“Towards the end we actually pitched the idea that Joey and Phoebe had been having casual sex the entire time,” LeBlanc said. “We’d go back and shoot all the historical scenes and just before a moment that everyone recognizes, there’s Joey and Phoebe coming out of a broom closet together. But they were like, ‘Nah.’”

Wow. Could that revelation be any more surprising?

While Phoebe and Joey are both off in TV-Land living their happily ever after with their soulmates, — Mike for Phoebe andsandwiches for Joey — we can’t help but wonder what could have been.
